When Ideas Mate
Posted by: | CommentsAn interesting perspective on progress and communication by the British author Matt Ridley who argues that, through history, the engine of human progress and prosperity has been, and is, “ideas having sex with each other.”
He starts off with comparing a stone age tool to a computer mouse. One human could make the tool but the making of the computer mouse requires the cooperation of several thousands of people from oil drilling to make the plastic to chip making and assembly of several parts made of different materials.
Lion Dance
Posted by: | CommentsI was in Guangzhou and Foshan last week end for the opening of a branch of the 300 years old Hung Sing Gwoon (Kung Fu studio) — the original is in Foshan, in a 300 years old traditional Chinese house.
The ceremony lasted the whole day until late at night. This is a video of a remarkable traditional lion dance performed on benches that you don’t see very often these days.
